Carmelo Hayes Wins NXT Championship at Stand and Deliver

WWE’s developmental brand holds special events all year round, but Stand & Deliver is special thanks to the fact that it takes place on WrestleMania weekend. This afternoon show had a lot of hype behind it. Indi Hartwell shocked NXT fans with her Women’s Championship title win early on in the event, and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles saw new owners as well, but it might not be the last.

Bron Breakker has carried the NXT brand as the top guy in WWE’s developmental system for nearly two years now. He put his title on the line against Carmelo Hayes in the main event of Stand & Deliver, and that match didn’t need much of a build at all.

Carmelo simply showed up on NXT and initiated this feud. It was a deserved title shot, and Carmelo demanded his crown. It all came to a head at NXT Stand & Deliver, as Bron Breakker entered the contest as the betting odds underdog, which is a rarity for him.

At one point during the closing segments of their epic encounter, Bron Breakker did make Carmelo Hayes tap out, but then Trick Williams jumped in to break it up. Williams was previously ejected from ringside during the match.

The two carried on and then Hayes scored a pinfall after hitting his Nothing But Net top rope dive. This was a clean win for Hayes, and a possible passing of the torch for good in NXT.

Bron Breakker is ready for the WWE main roster at this point. He is even co-starring alongside AJ Styles in a Snickers commercial that is currently in rotation.

Carmelo Hayes called his shot, and he doesn’t miss. Now, he is the new NXT Champion. We will have to see how his reign begins on Tuesday’s episode of NXT. It will be even more interesting to see how much longer Bron Breakker sticks around NXT now that he is no longer champion.

    Respect 🤝
