WWE fans shouldn’t expect to see former New Japan Pro Wrestling star Jay “Switchblade” White heading to WWE anytime soon, based on a new report.

A few months ago, it was reported that White was going to hit the free agent market when his deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling was set to expire.

He lost a loser leaves Japan match to Hikuleo at New Year’s Dash, and then loser leaves NJPW match to AEW star Eddie Kingston at Battle in the Valley. All signs were pointing to White possible joining WWE on Wrestlemania 39 weekend.

    Interest in Jay White

It had been reported that at one point, WWE and AEW were interested in signing him after he found so much success in NJPW, where he was their fifth triple crown champion and first grand slam champion.

He held the following titles one time each: IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, IWGP Heavyweight Championship, IWGP Intercontinental Championship (1 time)[82], NEVER Openweight Championship, and IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.

According to PWInsider, there was “absolutely no discussion” regarding former NJPW star and former IWGP World Champion over WrestleMania 39 weekend in Los Angeles. It was stated that “based on multiple conversations with WWE officials and talents, we are told it does not appear White is WWE-bound.”

White has only wrestled twice in AEW, including a match at Forbidden Door last June when he made a successful IWGP title defense in a four-way at the pay-per-view event. This is where Adam Cole got hurt with a concussion.

Whichever promotion White ends up signing with, he will be a top star for and used to elevate the company as a main eventer for years to come.
