Roman Reigns To Unveil New WWE Championship on Smackdown

Rumors have surfaced that Roman Reigns may unveil a brand new championship title on tonight’s episode of SmackDown, eliminating the two belts he currently holds.

Tonight’s SmackDown from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania will be the fallout episode for the blue brand following an explosive Night of Champions event in Jeddah. Tonight’s show will see a celebration of Roman Reigns, who reached 1,000 days as WWE Universal Champion last Saturday. Despite the historical milestone, Reigns is likely to be in a foul mood tonight, after he and Solo Sikoa failed to capture the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships from Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in Jeddah. The Night of Champions main event saw The Bloodline’s implosion continue, with Jimmy Uso superkicking the Tribal Chief twice to end the show.

    New Championship Title

Reigns has dominated as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, which since WrestleMania 38 has been represented by him holding two separate championship titles. Fightful Select reports that several memos were sent out yesterday within WWE, regarding the 1,000-day celebration of the Tribal Chief. The memos included the mention of a “New WWE Universal Championship.”

According to the internal WWE memos, a podium will be set up to showcase the “New WWE Championship” in a manner similar to how The Rock unveiled the WWE Championship back in 2013. This revelation has sparked a multitude of questions among fans and wrestling enthusiasts alike. Will Reigns simply be replacing the current design with a new one, or are we witnessing the retirement of the WWE Championship in favor of a singular title?

It’s worth being noted that WWE has not publicly confirmed that a new championship title will be revealed during tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

On Thursday, Reigns tweeted the following about his 1000 days celebration as champion…

“Tough times made me the Tribal Chief I am today. The Greatest of All Time. ☝🏽000 days as the undisputed best in the world! #AcknowledgeMe #SmackDown”
